There’s More to Choosing a Builder Than the House.
Of course you want someone capable of building a beautiful custom home.
But you're also choosing the people who will manage a significant investment, make thousands of decisions alongside you, tell you when something isn't going according to plan, and probably become a pretty regular name in your phone for quite a while.
That's a lot to hand over to someone because you liked the pictures on their website.
Who you build with matters.
Here's what matters to us.
We Plan Before We Build
Decisions made before construction begins can have just as much impact on a project as the work performed in the field.
That's why we spend so much time on discovery, detailed estimating, specifications and pre-construction planning.
We'd rather find a question on paper than find it after we've started building.
And we're perfectly comfortable asking one more question if the answer matters.
We Believe You Should Understand the Numbers
Custom doesn't mean the budget has to be a mystery.
Our detailed estimating process is designed to establish a realistic picture of your project before construction begins. Once we're building, job-cost information gives you visibility into the actual costs associated with your home.
When something changes, we talk about it.
When a decision affects cost, we want you to understand it.
And sometimes the honest answer is, “We don't know yet.”
When that's the case, we'll tell you what we do know, what we still need to find out, and what we're going to do to get the answer.
A confident answer isn't particularly valuable just because it was delivered confidently.
You should never feel disconnected from the financial side of your own home.
We’d Rather Tell You Now..
Not every conversation during a custom build is an easy one.
Sometimes the number is higher than you hoped. Sometimes something you want isn't practical. Sometimes a decision has consequences that aren't obvious at first.
We'd rather talk about those things when we see them than avoid the conversation and let them become bigger problems later.
You don't need a builder who always tells you what you want to hear. You need one willing to tell you what you need to know.
(We're builders. We just don't think “that's construction” is a particularly good explanation.)
You’ll know what’s happening
One of the things we've worked intentionally to improve is how much visibility clients have into their projects.
Our curated software keeps schedules, progress photos, selections, approvals and project information organized in one place, so you can see what's happening even when you can't be on the jobsite.
But technology doesn't replace communication.
You'll still have real people to call, questions to ask, decisions to work through, and conversations when something doesn't go exactly as planned.
You shouldn't have to become a detective to figure out what's happening with your own house.
The Details Don't Get Lost
A custom home has thousands of details.
Some you'll see every day—the cabinetry, flooring, countertops, lighting and finishes you spent months choosing.
Others will eventually disappear behind walls, beneath floors and above ceilings.
Those don't get to matter less just because nobody will see them on move-in day.
Our project-management and quality-control processes are designed to keep the details discussed during planning from getting lost once construction begins.
Because some of the most important craftsmanship in your home is craftsmanship you'll never see.
Experience in the Field. Organization Behind It.
Building well takes construction experience. Managing a custom build well takes organization.
Blake-Tull Custom Homes brings the two together.
Jon's hands-on custom-home construction and project-management experience is paired with Brianne's work in client selections, project systems, job-cost visibility and construction-management technology.
We don't always notice the same things first. That's actually one of our strengths.
Different perspectives mean more questions get asked, more details get noticed, and fewer things have the opportunity to quietly fall through the cracks.
We don't always agree immediately. That's usually when the conversation gets useful.
We Build Relationships, Too
By the time we finish a custom home, we've spent a lot of time together.
We've worked through plans, budgets, selections, construction decisions, exciting milestones—and probably a few things none of us expected when we started.
You get to know us. We get to know you.
We don't take that relationship lightly.
At the end of the project, we absolutely want you to love your home.
But we also want to run into you at dinner six months later and actually be happy to see each other.
That's a pretty good measure of a successful build, too.
The Blake-Tull Difference
We're serious about building exceptional homes.
We're equally serious about how we treat the people trusting us to build them.
We're going to ask questions. We're going to tell you what we know. We're going to tell you when we don't know. And when something needs to be dealt with, we're going to deal with it.
That's really what it comes down to.
